It's hard to believe 2014 is nearly half over. I feel like we just rang in the new year. We have been fortunate enough to have some sweet, amazing, creative brides so far this year. And many more with their weddings still to come! Here are a few of my favorites so far!
I had the pleasure of meeting Ashley and Zeke at the Bridal Expo this past fall. They were planning a beautiful winter wedding shortly after the new year. Their colors were silver and blue and the venue of choice, the beautiful Texas Old Town. Rustic elegance was the theme for this January wedding! We met together, and after sampling various flavors, she settled on creating a cake with different basic flavors with various fruit fillings in each tier! A fun surprise for her guests. Ashley chose a design from my albums, but we tweaked it a bit to customize the design to fit her wedding. The finished product: alternating tiers of a smooth cake with blue ribbon border and the quilted pattern with edible dragee's and rhinestone border was the perfect creation for Ashley and Zeke! We added a few flowers to complete the look and it was ready for her guests to enjoy!
Here is what Ashley had to say about her cake on wedding wire: "Wedding cake was awesome. I still have friends and family telling me how good the cake tasted and how beautiful it was. It was exactly what I was looking for and on a short notice Kayla still made it happen. Thanks you so much Kayla!!"
Recent college graduates, Amber and Trevor's first post-graduate line of business...to tie the knot! These young lovers said "I do" on a beautiful spring outdoor ceremony at the Page House. To match the look of the venue, Amber chose a vintage theme. And what's more vintage than lace? Falling in love with a photo online, we recreated her cake to mimic a ruffled look. Her pink champagne flavor (a new addition to our flavor list) was complimented by our Strawberry Cream Cheese filling! The various flowers in soft colors tied the cake in with the rest of her theme nicely!
After having difficulty finding a parking spot, Elizabeth and her fiance found my booth at the Bridal Extravaganza! She had come specifically to book her wedding cake with us. Apparently, she had already done her homework prior to the show, something I always recommend. After a little sampling her decision was made! We had a brief conversation and a little paperwork, and we were ready to go. She knew just what she wanted for her grooms cake, a sculpted replica of her fiances Calvary patch. But for her cake, she was undecided. Her Hyatt Lost Pines wedding was a classic, yet natural look. Centerpieces were constructed towers made of tree branches with gorgeous pink and purple flowers bursting out of the top! A busy law student, Elizabeth explained that she wanted each tier to be different, but entrusted the details to us! And here is her final product!
This is what Elizabeth had to say about her cakes on Wedding Wire: "Kayla is simply the best baker I could every imagine working with. I had an incredibly hectic schedule while planning my wedding and Kayla did everything possible to accommodate me. Her creativity is wonderful and she designed the perfect cake for me; I put my faith in her judgment and couldn't have been more pleased with the results on my bride's cake. The custom groom's cake she did for my fiancée was everything we wanted it to be, and both cakes were absolutely delicious. I still have friends and family asking who did our cakes because the flavors were so wonderful. I did a simple French vanilla cake without a filling for the bride's cake and her delicious chocolate raspberry for the groom's cake. THANK YOU KAYLA!!!!"
Kayla grew up in the wedding industry and has grown to love all things wedding. Please enjoy reading her thoughts and experiences as she continues to walk in family tradition.
