About Kayla- Owner and Cake Designer

My mission is to combine a delicious, exceptionally moist cake with the design customized to your unique vision.
I grew up in the wedding industry and I am a 4th generation wedding industry professional. From the time I was a little girl, I was in a kitchen helping my grandmother with her catering business. But, I never had a vision of going into the industry myself. Instead, I graduated from Texas Christian University in 2005 with a degree in Political Science. Later that year I married my witty and laid back husband, quite the opposite from my type A and slightly OCD self. In 2007, we welcomed our first child into the world and we decided I should to quit my job in the corporate world and start a business of our own. My creative side is what drew me into the cake industry and we created Kayla Knight Cakes in July 2008. I began with small birthday parties and eventually landed a gig with Pump It Up parties. Following birthday parties I began to book a few larger events and eventually weddings and found that I have a passion for working with couples and creating beautiful tasty cakes for their wedding day!
When I'm not at the kitchen I am with my family because they are my world. Together, we love to travel and experience new places. We are an active, sports loving, Jesus loving family; and we can often be found on the football field or in the dance studio. On the rare occasion that we are all at home, we will be piled up on the couch with our 3 fur babies watching movies or playing monopoly.
