Winter Flavors that Wow!

Creating a wedding cake is always lots of fun!  Especially when it's custom to your wedding and style.  However, most brides aren't prepared for the huge list of flavors that stare them in the face when we get to the tasty part of our meeting. 

Planning a winter wedding?  Consider what's in season.  Most fruits (like strawberries) aren't in season.  So, while we can get them, they aren't the fresh and best quality berries.  Opt for fruits that are in season.  Also, typically with colder weather the food gets heavier.  Don't ask me why...they just do.  Choose a flavor that is a bit more dense.

Here are a few good options:

• Italian Cream - yummy!  This wedding classic are great for winter weddings.  Pecans are often used in meals during winter celebrations, so choosing a cake rich in pecans and buttermilk would be an excellent choice.
  
• Pistachio - again, nuts!  Nuts are great for winter weddings.  Plus, it's something unique that most guests won't be expecting.
  
• Carrot - Fresh ground carrots combined with a little cinnamon...who can resist.  Add a little cream cheese in there and you've got a crowd pleaser.
  
• Banana Chocolate Chip - fresh banana bread with a mixture of chocolaty goodness is what will pop in your head.  This cake will definitely be an indulgence that brings guest back for seconds...or thirds.  Make sure you order extra!
