I love working with brides and grooms to come with a unique and fun cake that only they would have! Tossing around ideas and helping them create their vision is always fun for me. My couple this weekend had a groom's cake that was 100% groom specific! Enter....his tattoo! Our groom's cake has a story, the groom's story. Tattooed on his arm is the image on the top tier. We recreated his tattoo in sugar (lots of yummy chocolate buttercream) and then decorated the side of the cake with music notes, as the groom has a deep love for music! I treasure making cakes like these because they are sentimental...there is a meaning behind the design! What designs are you thinking about for your cake? Call me and we can talk them out!

Often times the cakes that are published and talked about are the grand cakes with 5 tiers and adornments galore! But, what if you want a small wedding? Or, what if you love the idea of a big wedding with all the bells and whistles, but your budget is more small wedding friendly! There are so many adorably small wedding cakes that deserves a little attention too! This two tier (size 6x10) will feed 64 guests. The lemon flavor with raspberry filling was perfect for the evening patio style reception at the top of Trudy's restaurant. The reception was fun! Pink and blue were the colors, with a pop of sparkle. The smooth top tier with the pink and white sprinkles on the bottom gave this cake an adorable dessert presentation! Add a cute little cake topper and you have a perfectly crowd pleasing cake for your small wedding celebration. This afternoon back-yard wedding was full of color for the Cinco De mayo themed wedding. This two tier (size 6x10) cake serves 72 guests. There was already so much color on the cake, very little adornments were needed. The bride had large paper flowers decorated all over the back yard, so she made a few small ones to incorporate with her cake. Simple, pretty, and perfect for her guest size! Ok, so all the color is great! But, what if you want a more formal wedding cake? Check out these beauties! These 3 tier (size 6x8x10) cakes serve between 98-106 guests. And remember, we can always customize that gorgeous, elegant, fun, classy, or over the top design onto a small cake that will fit your guest count perfectly!
Are you one of the thousands of brides circling and tagging cake pictures in magazines? And what about that pinterest account of yours...let me guess...it's filled with everything from cakes to invitations to hair styles!
I always encourage brides to check out magazines and photos online. They are a great resource to get ideas for your wedding. But, I also want to caution brides too. Magazine and Pinterest cakes should just be an idea. If you have found that picture perfect cake in a magazine and you want that exact cake, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment. Most styled cakes (like the ones in magazines and flooded in your "wedding" board) are not real. They are creatively assembled from sytrofoam. Parts are glued and distorted to create that perfect presentation for the shoot. Some designs can be recreated in real icing, but others cannot. Or, they can, but with a few changes. If you found a cake bring in the photo to your baker. They may not be able to replicate it. Or, they might with changes. Or, they might be able to match it completely. Be open minded if changes are suggested. After all, we want you to fall in love with your cake, but we also have to be realistic when working with icing and cake batter too. |
