A Contemporary Wedding

I had the honor of creating Annette and Randy's cake for their contemporary style wedding.  Their venue was wall to wall windows that overlooked beautiful Lake Travis.  Their sunset reception overlooked the sparkling waters creating a romantic backdrop for their celebration!

So, what are some ideas that Annette and other brides do to create a contemporary style?  Here are a few:

1. Bold Colors - Annette chose the contrasting colors (dark chocolate and white).  Golds and metallic are also popular.
2. Symmetry - Symmetrical designs are another good way to create a contemporary wedding.  Annette's hexagon tier is a great example along with her linear sugar flower cascade.
3. Sparkle - Annette chose to only add a subtle amount of bling with her cake topper, the rhinestone shine creates an upscale contemporary look to any wedding.
