Are you one of the thousands of brides circling and tagging cake pictures in magazines? And what about that pinterest account of yours...let me guess...it's filled with everything from cakes to invitations to hair styles!
I always encourage brides to check out magazines and photos online. They are a great resource to get ideas for your wedding. But, I also want to caution brides too. Magazine and Pinterest cakes should just be an idea. If you have found that picture perfect cake in a magazine and you want that exact cake, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment. Most styled cakes (like the ones in magazines and flooded in your "wedding" board) are not real. They are creatively assembled from sytrofoam. Parts are glued and distorted to create that perfect presentation for the shoot. Some designs can be recreated in real icing, but others cannot. Or, they can, but with a few changes. If you found a cake bring in the photo to your baker. They may not be able to replicate it. Or, they might with changes. Or, they might be able to match it completely. Be open minded if changes are suggested. After all, we want you to fall in love with your cake, but we also have to be realistic when working with icing and cake batter too.
