I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Halloween. I don't like gross or scary things. But, I do love weddings with a theme. When Karen contacted me in regards to her Halloween themed wedding I was interested to see where she was going to take her ideas. Depending on how one decorates for their holiday wedding, it can either be super tacky or super classy. And there isn't much middle ground. After listening to Karen's ideas I fell in love with her concept! Her decor made me think of Halloween meets Pirates of the Caribbean, in a way. The colors were black, deep red, and a pop of rhinestone. Rhinestones and red flowers were the main choice of decoration along with black linens, candlesticks, and china. Little pops of skeleton decor added a bit of that Halloween setting to her reception.
Her two tier cake (peach chiffon with cream cheese filling, very yummy) was a simple smooth design with a lace border. A few deep red flowers brought the cake to life. And the cake topper...well, I have no clue where she found that. But, it sure did fit her theme and her personality (fun and lively)! It was very classy, yet dark too. When decorating for your holiday wedding, my advice is to choose a color theme fitting to your holiday and then add small pops of holiday elements as accent pieces, not the main focus of the wedding. That's the best way to keep your holiday wedding in theme, without going overboard in holiday decorations.
