Ocean Themed Cake

With spring getting close the ocean/sea theme weddings and events are becoming more popular!  Beach themes are a fun and casual concept for any party.  They are easy to decorate, can be dressed up for formal events, and the colors are beautiful!

This cake was actually created for a Quincinera.  Located on the second floor of a downtown hotel, the wall to wall/top to bottom windows overlooked the glistening lake!  Tables were draped with teal silk tablecloths.  Mock netting bustled around tall vases filled with blue and white hydrangeas and other floral assortments.  The cake (or cakes) were an assortment of flavors ranging from a traditional white with strawberry filling to a decadent black forest cake!  

The buttercream design consisted of a two toned look, with sea blue on bottom and white on top.  White buttercream accents created a sea like finish on the cake, to mimic bubbles in the ocean and the sea grass on the ocean floor.  White chocolate seashells embellished the cake and added the final touches to complete the theme of the cake!
